I purchased this palette strictly out of curiosity. It was one of those purchases I didn't think much of, lol. This palette originally priced for $4.00 off Cherryculture.com, but I got it on sale for $1.99 during their 'March Madness' event.
On the packaging - ★★☆☆☆Well..it's definitely not fancy or expensive looking. It's exactly what I'd expect at $1.99, or even at $4.00. Pretty much all plastic (that feels relatively cheap), except for the metal pans and built-in mirror. Also, it comes with a dual end applicator. The plastic 'feels' sturdy, but with some simple bend, I'm sure it'll crack. You can almost feel the crack coming on with enough pressure applied. This is definitely something I wouldn't want to drop. Other than that, it's generally ok just sitting on my table top.
Colours & Pigmentation: ★★★☆☆I actually really like the colours. In real life they have much more saturation, the pics don't do much in showing colour. The palette untouched shows lots of shimmer, but after swatched the actual product underneath is more 'frosty'. I still like it and actually prefer the 'frosty' look. The colours are a good mixture of cool and warm tones.
Pigmentation is pretty good, considering it is $1.99. But, because the product is easy to pick up, I end up picking up more pigment.
Swatches: Top row with natural light, Bottom row with flash.
The best colours were the dark brown (far left), the center colour, and pink.
They were the least crumbly and easiest to apply.
Texture: ★☆☆☆☆Do not like. I first applied the swatches with my index finger, and the initial feeling was kind of 'suede-ish'? I don't know. It didn't feel velvety or soft like the Naked palette. Also, it gave this residue after feel (kind of oily). I guess I would put this more on a cream type eyeshadow, than pressed powder, because that's what it feels more like.
Also, some of the colours crumbled easily and aren't very easy to blend. I find it easier to apply the product with the applicator provided, there is more control. Fingers are too fat, lol.
After swatch photos ... See how the shimmer coat is gone?
Wear: ★☆☆☆☆Easily rubs off and also leaves some staining.
- Nice colours
- Fairly pigmented
- Hard to blend
- Some colours crumble
- Poor wear length
- Looks and feels cheap
Final thoughts. I actually don't mind this palette. I'm curious to see results should I experiment with the colours since I like them. I'm thinking of perhaps adding water to create more of a liner look. I've yet to try it with primer, so will post up once I do. Although I didn't give the greatest rating, I don't think the product is all that bad considering it's price.
Would I repurchase? Probably not..they have a huge selection of palettes to try.
